Wayne Harris, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, was tragically taken from this world on June 28, 2017.
Wayne was shot multiple times and killed outside of his home while attempting to protect his family. Amanda Harris, his wife was shot twice, but by the Grace of God survived.
Amanda, now at the age 36 years old has an unfathomable road ahead of recovering from her gunshot wounds, the emotional healing from this horrific crime, being stripped away from her soulmate, all coupled with having to figure out how to financially support their two daughters, 3 year old Gemma and 11 year old Kelsie. In addition to all the emotional and physical healing ahead Amanda has expressed that she would like to be at all court hearings for the man who took Wayne's life.
For those of you that didn’t know Wayne, you meet him once and you are now his friend for life!
He was everyone’s friend and would do anything to help those in need. He had an enormous love for dirt track racing and honestly any sort of motor sports! This love of his cultivated an amazing friendship base and beyond! His biggest love of all was for his family, Amanda, Gemma, Nick and Kelsie. This was immeasurable. He worked so hard to provide for them.
Over the course of the past two years, Gemma’s medical condition (VACTERL Association) has required a tremendous amount of medical support. It has been vital that Amanda stay at home for Gemma’s needs. Wayne and Amanda made some difficult financial sacrifices to help lessen their monthly overhead to keep Amanda home and to take care of medical expenses. One of these choices was to stop paying for Wayne’s life insurance because you never think that this would happen! They were thinking when things get better they would reinstate it.
No words can express what this family is feeling, but we as their family, fellow neighbors and friends can help them get through it!
