WECAN is a not-for-profit community-based organization that has been in existence since 1980 in the Woodlawn Community.
WECAN provides safe, decent, and affordable housing for individuals and families who may be at risk of homelessness and/or who are low-income and having difficulties in finding affordable and decent housing.
WECAN's longevity in the community has served the community in its redevelopment of 132 units of affordable housing. WECAN developed a database of properties which is now used as a city-wide model. WECAN prevented 5,420 units of housing from being lost. WECAN servicing over 4,000 families through Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). WECAN servicing over 1,200 families through the Christmas Adopt-A-Family program. WECAN assisted in sending over 100 Woodlawn youths to College.
Your support will help WECAN continue its mission in providing affordable and decent housing in the community. Your donations will also go towards providing some summer activities for our youths so we can keep youths active in positive and meaningful activities.
Our goal is to raise funds so WECAN can continue to provide the services and programs that are so very much needed in our community. You play a major part in the services that WECAN has been able to provide over the years because of your support and financial donations you make it possible.
WECAN is dedicated to the community and to the neighborhoods it serves. I work directly with WECAN as a staff member and as a volunteer and I can say without a doubt that WECAN is committed and invested in its mission and community.
