Welcoming Refugees to Wisconsin
Donation protected
We are Four Lakes Welcome Corps, neighbors and friends Working Together in the greater Madison, Wis. area to welcome refugee newcomers. Thank you for helping us reach our goal of $15,000 to welcome a family of four to our area, helping them secure initial housing, find jobs, and make a new life in Wisconsin.
The Welcome Corps is a new federally sponsored service opportunity for ordinary Americans to welcome refugees seeking freedom and safety – refugee families who have already been screened and vetted and are approved for employment and benefits. We are excited to help secure and prepare initial housing, to greet refugee newcomers at the airport, and to assist adults find employment.
Refugees are courageous, modest, and inspirational people. Being a refugee means you have been forced to leave everything you know and run for your life. It means taking your life savings, however small, and venturing into the unknown. It means witnessing death, torture, rape and more. It means saving the lives of your family, even though you’re sacrificing everything. It’s incredibly exciting and humbling to know we can provide assistance to these people and help them find a safe harbor in our beautiful and peaceful Midwest city. They’re literally waiting right now for us to do it. Thank you for your support.
