Well-Loved Byron Beach Artist Fined

POPULAR BYRON Bay beach artist Craig “Spiralman” Gascoigne has been lumbered with a $113 parking fine while creating his beach art.
Craig posted on his Facebook page, describing what happened, and his thoughts about the incident.
“It cost me $113 to draw today… I was on the beach for more than four hours.
“I don’t begrudge Byron the right to charge for parking, but many times I have to be at the beach waiting for the tide to be in the right place before I can start drawing.
“Then I draw for up to two-and-a-half hours, sometimes more…
“I have to park at the beach because I can’t be carrying such a dangerous weapon as my rake through the tourist laden streets of Byron.
“I so want to continue making Byron a more beautiful place for the locals, tourists and Byron its self, but it pains me to say that I’m not sure how I can continue with things as they are.
“I don’t want to sound like I’m whingeing but I simply have no idea what to do.”
