VEX Robotics National Competition

The West Ashley HS robotics team has competed twice this year so far. The first competition resulted in a 1st place finish and at the second competition we were awarded the Excellence Award, which is the highest honor that VEX robotics gives out. The reason we ask for you to fund us is because both of these awards came with an invitation to skip over the state tournament and advance directly to the CREATE Robotics VEX National Championships! In fact, although the same robot has earned both invitations, we are confident that at least one of our other three robots will earn the same invitation in the coming regional tournaments.

This year, the national championship is in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 7, 8, and 9. We currently have about 12 students (and hopefully 2 or 3 robots) attending the trip. Unfortunately, the cost of such a trip is quite an expenditure for us and we were hoping that you would help us to raise the money to fund this trip. Presently, we are going to request funding from the school district and perhaps various grants; however, if you are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated. 

A competition like this will help my students earn scholarships for college, make powerful networking connections, and will also be an amazing life experience that they will remember forever!  Our participation in a nationwide event will also result in increased attention from local businesses, leading to potential employment opportunities!
