Westover Magnet Elementary School

As many know, our children have been displaced from their school due to mold contamination issues. Westover Magnet is not only the largest elementary school in the city of Stamford with over 700 students displaced, but it is one of the most desired magnet programs with a focus on arts and problem solving. In addition to the usual curriculum of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, our children are able to participate in Art, Dance, Music, Problem Solving, Science, Computer Technology, Drama, Physical Education and Social Studies - classes that are not offered in every school. 

While the city has found a temporary space for the children to attend school, this space as of now, is empty walls. The children are not entering into the usual environment with cut outs, maps and art on the walls. Many of the decorations and supplies in each of our teachers rooms have taken years to acquire. Many of our children, although resilient, are being effected by this change in routine and normalcy. 

It would be wonderful if we could come together as a community to raise funds for each and every teacher in our school, from home base to APS, to show them that we appreciate them and stand behind them during this time. Every little bit counts and will be so appreciated, and help our children have supplies to feel more at home in their new environment.
