On Father’s Day 2019, my friend and her family lost their father in an automobile accident. He was changing his tire off the highway when a car swerved and hit a family friend who was helping, their dad, and their car where his wife, three of his four children, and their 2 dogs were. When the ambulance arrived the father was taken to one hospital, while the oldest daughter and wife were taken to a different hospital due to sustained injuries. The other two children and two dogs were not allowed in the ambulance so I got the call at about 11pm the night of the accident that my friend, her brother, and their dogs needed a ride. I hopped into my car and drove the 30 minutes to get them only to find that the whole highway was blocked off due to the accident. Thankfully a very nice couple who were near the accident gave them a ride off the highway where we met them at a BP so we could get them home. Their aunt, who lives almost two hours away, had to come get them to bring them to the hospital. After she picked them up I went back home only to get a call at 1:30am Father’s Day morning that their dad did not make it. I’m starting this fundraiser because the mom is epileptic and cannot drive and is currently without a job, two of the four children are in college, one is about to be a senior in high school, and the youngest has one year left of middle school. The dad was a pastor so their housing was through his job. I am hoping to reach the goal of the fundraiser and maybe I more. It can’t help them get their father back, but it will help this family get back on their feet.
