What If? A Film About OCD and Uncertainty

Hi my name is Robin Roblee-Strauss

 I am making a non-fiction film about obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety. My aim is to document a series of stories about peoples’ experiences struggling with OCD. I am particularly interested in exploring OCD and anxiety’s core pathology which is an intolerance for uncertainty. I want to make clear connections across the different thematic forms of OCD and create relationality between people suffering with OCD and those that don't. We all are navigating lives filled with uncertainty. My hope is that with a diverse array of stories, informative interviews, and creative cinematic expression, my film will provide a fresh look at OCD and anxiety. In addition, it is intended to create a sense of understanding and universal interest in the struggle with uncertainty.

 This project is near and dear to my heart because it comes out of my own struggle with anxiety and OCD. I feel there is an urgent need for more media that talks honestly and accurately about experiences of mental health and thereby normalize these experiences. Projects like this one will, in the long run, ensure that people can talk openly about their struggles and get effective support and care rather than being filled with shame and confusion.

 In order to make this happen I need your support. I need funds to travel so I can collaborate with the subjects in the film as well as speak with different psychologists, clinicians and mental health advocates and pay for post production costs.
