The Mission of "What's Real?!" 607, by using the power of the internet, is to bring light into a depressed community for hundreds of artists who fight daily for their dreams but are limited by economic hardship and lack of development in rural areas where there isn't opportunity like there is in metropolitan areas.The 607 area code covers about 20% of the entire state of NY and is home to scores of amazing multi-genre musicians who are devoted to their craft, but need organization and solidarity as a community in developing a stronger music scene where it can be possible to succeed in entertainment as a profession, even in Small Town, USA.
Ultimately, we aim to inspire youth and continue to let people of all ages know that someone can follow their dreams and succeed in life on their own terms. All of our affiliated artists who send us their music to play are provided global exposure and run their own music store completely independent from anyone else, as opposed to buying over commercialized music that often times the writers and artists themselves see little to no compensation. When you buy music from 607 artists, every single dollar you spend goes directly to those artists. - We offer our services free of charge to every musician playing music in the 607.
How we work is pretty simple:
Celebrity interviews, or rather ' people of interest' lend us a worldwide fan base where we can expose fans to a variety of different 607 music where all of our artists' band stores are located at the top of the webpage. We encourage people to go buy music directly from the artists and every artist keeps 100% of everything they make from their own band store. This allows artists to stay completley independent while still recieving global attention. This also provides a comprehensive approach to talent scouting for record labels looking for talent to work with in case artists want to take record deals and no longer be independent. What we are and how we do it gets our artists proper attention by consolidating the power of all our music together in one concentrated place. At "What's Real?!" 607, we believe the only thing better than becoming a Rock Star is being able to bring your entire community with you. Each interview we get is a MAJOR part of our ability to save peoples lives, keeps people off of dangerous drugs, and inspires people to turn away from suicide. We MUST show people of all ages that they are capable of the realization of any dream they have.
The Non-Profit status is designed to allocate resources to area schools for Music and Art Programs. Having a Non- Profit status will additionally allow us to work easier with production companies who we source sound bytes from and will help us get more high profile interviews. It will also aid us in generating more clients who want to advertise in our ad banks on our web page. The money collected also goes to station up keep and expansion and a modest living wage to it's creator. To apply for a Non-Profit one must send in an application to the office of the Secretary of New York State and await approval. Then file for tax-exempt status separately. The application and filing fees are $2,000 alone. I have put over $1000 of my money into the professional development of the website, over $5000 into production equipment and 1000's of hours of production and promotional work over the last 3 years I've been creating this project. We are slated to 'turn on the switch' this fall and I want to get the resources together to set up the Non-Profit and have money for promotional event sponsorships, additional equipment, merchandising and to pay for any related legal fees.We also need to pay for the platform which is $500 a year. We need the support of the 607 community and abroad from those who recognize the kind of value we are creating in what we're going to do this year.
