Where is our history?: Memorial fundraiser

Memorial2007 was created in 2005 having in mind the idea of erecting the first national memorial to remember the victims of the Transatlantic slave trade and their descendants by 2007. Fourteen years later despite our continuous efforts this project still has not seen the light of day. We have a site in Hyde Park and a planning permission but we need to raise the money to make it happen. Severe time and financial constraints have led us to move up a gear and attempt to bring as much attention as possible to our project. And this is where we need your help. We, indeed, have to raise £2 million by the beginning of September 2019 if we want to keep the planning permission everyone fought so hard to get. This is an ambitious but attainable goal that calls for each and every one of you because Black history is British history, and we will not let it be erased from memory. 

Your generous donations will contribute to the establishment of a memorial statue designed by international artist, Lee Johnson, on a site in the Rose Gardens of London's Hyde Park. The statue will be accompanied by a memorial garden composed of the flora of Africa as a haven of remembrance and serenity. Not only will this memorial serve as a place for reflection and education but it will also contribute to the physical manifestation and recognition of Britain's involvement in the Transatlantic slave trade.
