Dear Friend,
We had no warning. It was on a Monday morning, Abba was the picture of good health, in the afternoon he was in a coma, by Wednesday he was gone. It was all so sudden. His friend told us. Abba had been fine, when he suddenly said that his hand was numb, and he didn’t feel well. The friend took one look at his face and called Hatzalah - but Abba collapsed before they arrived. In the hospital, the doctors said he had an aneurysm – a blood vessel in his brain had burst.
The last time I saw Abba – hooked up to who knows how many machines, and not responding to me at all. Then he was gone! At Age 46! And I never had a chance to tell him goodbye.
I tore kriyah, watched Abba’s body be lowered into the earth, said Kaddish with my brothers – even three year old Yoni, who could barely lisp the words - but the tears didn’t come. But when one day I came home from yeshiva to find my mother in tears, it hit me.
My mother is a widow! I am an orphan!
I will never see my father again!
We are alone! Alone!
It didn’t make any sense to me. Abba? Young, strong, Abba? He never complained of as much as a headache! How could he die? But the fact is that he is gone, my mother is a widow, and the eleven of us are orphans.
Our home is not the same place it was. My teenage sisters don’t laugh or chatter anymore. The little children keep asking for Abba. They cry all the time.
In a few weeks my brother will be getting married. This would usually be a very happy occasion. However unfortunately in our case there will be lots of sad moments that we will have to endure.
We will have to watch our brother marching down to the chuppah without my father a"h.
There is one part of this that you can help us with and that is the financial burden that is adding so much stress to these already stressful times.
Maybe if you help, we can all somehow get over this tragedy, and lead normal, healthy lives.
I know that my Abba is gone –
but we have a Father of Orphans,
and He will surely bless you for your kindness.
And in the merit of helping a young widow and her eleven orphans, may you know only of health,
happiness, and prosperity.
Sincerely,
Moishe F.
P.S. PLEASE, PLEASE send a large donation that will give my Imma the strength and peace of mind to raise us and marry us off.
Please send as much as you can and remember that the more you give your donation can be doubled or tripled.
Thank you, and tizku l’mitzvos.
