Help us produce a TV pilot featuring Laura Reeves,
Manitoba’s go-to source for eating wild.

Whether you give $10, $20 or $100, your donation will make this special project possible. This video will be used to promote the idea of a series featuring other wild meals with Laura to TV stations.

MENU: Acorn pancakes with Manitoba maple syrup and a wild tea to be determined at the time of filming
SHOOTING INFO: 5 minute video to be shot in March, weather permitting, near Gardenton, Manitoba.

The purpose of this pilot is to take Laura’s fun adventures in wild edible plant identification, harvesting and preparation to the TV viewing audience. By combining her knowledge of wild edibles with her penchant for simplicity, Laura demonstrates the arts of improvisation and resourcefulness. This series will provide viewers with the tools, skills and knowledge they need to increase their food and lifestyle options, improve food security, become more adaptable, and connect with nature in a meaningful way.

About Laura:
Laura Reeves is the founder of Prairie Shore Botanicals and a botanist with over 20 years experience. She received her BSc. (Botany) from the University of Manitoba in 1997.   She has taken 8 courses at Tom Brown’s Tracking, Nature and Wilderness Survival School in New Jersey, as well as the home-based Kamana Naturalist Training Program through Wilderness Awareness School (Washington).

Sometimes we have to create a need to do even the things we love doing in order to stop excusing ourselves for not doing them. ~ Laura Reeves

Laura is passionate about building self-reliance through foraging wild edibles and practicing wilderness skills. Ironically, it’s much easier today to get food and other necessities from around the world than one’s own backyard. But rather than go to the grocery store, Laura has chosen to abandon things that most of us would deem essential in a bid to incorporate her passions into everyday life. Even in the dead of winter, she relies entirely on what she’s been able to harvest and put away.

URGENT: Please, make your donation today:  Maple sap runs best when overnight temperatures drop below freezing and daytime temperatures reach about 10 degrees Celsius and it looks like these conditions may be met in March. For these reasons we are hoping /planning to shoot the video towards the end of March when Manitoba maple sap starts to flow. Thank you!

Here’s how the money will be spent.
