Willie Murphy’s New CD
Donation protected
More than a simple Musician, Willie Murphy has authored some of the finest politically motivated and satirical music available today. His music not only begs us to dance, but also invites us to think and reflect on our own place in this crazy world. After years of giving to us, now we can do something to give back to him.
Willie needs our help. Willie is working on recording a new CD this year with the Angel Headed Hipsters. He’s written and recorded 10-15 original songs. The cost of mixing, mastering and ‘manufacturing’ the CD (“…to get it out there before the world ends.”), is too much to handle with the ever rising cost of everyday living. I know we can help to get Willie closer to his goal.

Included below are some photos and information written about Willie and his bands:
Over the years, the nationally known and respected Minnesota Music Association has given more nominations and awards to Willie and his groups than anyone else. In 1990 Willie Murphy was named as one of the three charter members of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame along with Bob Dylan and Prince.
Willie Murphy, one of the best loved musicians in the Twin Cities, was honored as the First "Mayor" of the Minneapolis Mill City Music Festival, one of the largest U.S. festivals, which showcases top national and regional artists.
In the 90's Willie even brought his unique brand of musical soul to Europe, playing extensively in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy. Whether playing as a soloist or with the Angel-Headed Hipsters, Willie has left audiences sweaty, satisfied and stomping their feet for more!
Willie Murphy has been writing, performing, recording and producing Blues/R&B music for over 30 years. His 1969 collaboration with folk/blues legend "Spider" John Koerner, "Running, Jumping, Standing Still," is still acclaimed as an all-time folk/blues classic. After producing Bonnie Raitt's Warner Bros. debut in 1971, Murphy turned down a full-time producer gig with Elektra Records to concentrate on his groundbreaking band, Willie and the Bees. Throughout the 70s and into the 80s, Willie and the Bees defined live R&B/soul music. The band was famous for their unique blending of blues, R&B, jazz, funk, reggae and rock into an electric and eclectic sound that still defies categorization to this day.
Throughout the 90’s and into the new millennium Willie Murphy continues to bring his unique brand of soul music to audiences across the globe. With his new band, the Angel Headed Hipsters, Willie continues to build his considerable reputation in the music world, captivating audiences. In today's overcrowded music scene, good recognition is hard to find. Willie has a career that spans so many musical generations and styles.
With help, Willie will give us another incredible CD. Thank you for your support!
