Womanikin: A universal attachment to challenge outdated CPR training.
Here’s a fact that is shocking but true. Women are 27% less likely to receive life-saving CPR from bystanders. It’s easy to get angry. To blame the bystanders. And while CPR training has become more commonplace, we only learn on male torsos because society has sexualized women’s bodies, making breasts taboo. Our goal is to bridge the gap by in CPR training by normalizing the female figure. So, we developed the Womanikin – a universal attachment that can easily be slipped over the common male CPR manikin. It’s time to challenge outdated education and drive equality in a cardiac intervention.
Womanikin is brought to you by a collaboration of CPR experts, cardiologists, creatives, organizations and people who care about keeping women alive.
We are here to start a movement. A movement to raise awareness of the millions of women who die from heart disease. A movement to change the way we teach. A movement that could save women's lives. It is our ambition that by the end of 2020 every CPR training school in the country has a Womanikin attachment and thousands of people will have been instructed on how to assist a woman who has gone into cardiac arrest.
We want to reach our goal of manufacturing 10 Womanikins by National CPR Week (June 1st-7th) to jumpstart our mission of replacing outdated education across the country.
