Between Sichuan and Yunnan, around Lugu Lake under the Hymalaian, lay the mythical Land of Daughters where Na people (known as Moso by Han Chinese) still follow the laws of the Dabus, the grandmothers that through their mother centred families lead their society and carry on ancient traditions which risk soon to fade away to mass tourism and globalisation. The Na is one of the few indigenous societies of peace in the world still not completely consumed by capitalism and in every probability once rooted in the much debated matriarchy, still survived in a strong matrifocal orientation of Na society.
Near the lake in a rural village on Sichuan side in Sadama Wang's traditional Na house, we are creating a space for women from all walks of life, to find a refuge from 'world of the Motherless', to re-discover ourselves in sisterhood, motherhood, daughterhood, “womanhood”, and friendship and to remember in ourselves and remind humankind the eternal contract Mother-Daughter existing between every life and every form of life, including apparently wombless forms of life.
(To know more about the area, we are sharing some magical views of the lake through Ilaria Bohm’s Poetry here https://youtu.be/vJMIQOu34p0)
The guest house will also serve as a study centre to continue research on matriarchal societies and erased women history, so to reactivate the lost wisdom in the exchange between women, which the Law of the Motherless has persecuted and obstacled for so many centuries, well knowing the extraordinary shifting and trasnformative power of women getting together with heart and womb to rediscover and reform the ancient unity.
We aim to investigate the archaic shamanistic role of women in matriarchal societies and how the knowledge of that can change the world from the inside in unpredictable and all-reaching ways through our relationships.
IN TOTAL WE AIM TO RAISE 27.000 euros. We initially asked for 70.000 because we wanted to make an actual physical matriarchal studies library, but at the moment we decided to opt for only an online one, which will require only about 9 thousands, and we only will do some minimal restoration to Sadama's house without adding new rooms. This way we hope to start small and grow big with time and love.
