Sanctuary Owners Injured in bombing.
Donation protected
The Wonkey Donkey Visitors Centre is a haven for abused and abandoned donkeys and is run by the Howarth Family in Knottingley. It was opened after 19 year old Jenny developed a serious illness as a child and the donkeys helped her recovery. This tight knit family unit have dedicated their entire lives to caring for the animals who need them. They live and work at the sanctuary and run entirely on donations plus the support of volunteers.
On Monday night Jenny (19) and her cousin Jodie (13) attended the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Their aunties, Josie and Janet were waiting in the foyer to collect them when there was a terrorist bomb detonated. Jenny and Jodie escaped unharmed however Josie and Janet were caught in the blast and are currently in hospital with serious injuries.
The whole family and all the volunteers are devastated and traumatised by the events but we all want to keep the sanctuary open and the donkeys well being is our main priority.
I am a volunteer at the sanctuary and have set up this page on behalf of the sanctuary to raise funds to cover running costs whilst the family recover. We don't want them to have to be worrying about fundraising during this extremely difficult and emotional time.
I am very close to the family and can assure you that the money is going directly to their bank account and will be spent on animal feed, bedding and vets bills.
Please donate if you can to help this wonderful family and their donkeys.
