World Blind Golf Championship 2018

As Canadian Blind Golf champions, Gerry Nelson and coach Chris Villeneuve have been given the opportunity to represent Canada at the World Blind Golf Championship in Rome, Italy in September, 2018.    Together, they have achieved the goal of qualifying for this event, and are seeking donations to help assist with the event as there is no funding provided and they are personally responsible for all associated costs, such as flights, hotels, meals, etc. 

Gerry and Chris have been friends for over 35 years, from about the time Gerry lost his eyesight due to diabetes.  For the past two decades they have worked long and hard together, and have held titles as the Western Canadian Blind Golf champions (16 times) and the Canadian Open Blind Golf champions (3 times), and have placed fifth and third at previous international championships.    Golf has been a passion for both of them, and their wish is to achieve one more dream and hopefully win for Canada at the world level.

Gerry's sisters, Trudy and Janet, and Chris' daughter Tamara, are spearheading a fundraising campaign to help get these two to Rome.  A paint night has already taken place, a steak night is forthcoming, and more events are planned for the spring.  Each and every contribution, no matter how big or small, is appreciated so very much and they are grateful for your support.
