World's highest ultra for a CF cure
Donation protected
As part of our altruistic endurance project 'The BIG 10', We're heading over to Mt Everest for event 3 of The BIG 10 about how climbing to 20,305ft (Island Peak) and running the world’s highest ultramarathon with less than half the amount of oxygen correlates to the struggles of a CF patient.
What is Cystic Fibrosis (CF)? It's the most common, life-shortening, genetic condition affecting young Australians today. A baby is born with CF every 4 days! The condition affects the lungs, digestive system and sweat glands, requiring relentless expensive, daily physiotherapy and medical regimes. The average life expectancy for those born with CF is 38.
Currently there is NO cure.
That's where we come in and put our bodies through some serious endurance to try and raise $65k to put toward research for the Cure4CF foundation.
Why $65k? Well, 65 is the key number as it's a 62km ultramarathon + 3,000ft of extra climb above Base Camp and '65 Roses' that's dedicated to CF.
With your help, we can find a cure for CF!
Please support any way possible as this event campaign is only until June 4!
Note, Ant won't be attending this one unfortunately so it'll just be Chris on behalf of The Wounded Pelicans.
How can you get behind this event and get involved?
1. Online donation:
If you can make a contribution toward the $65k, it would be one step closer to finding a cure for CF! Click here to donate.
2. Spreading the word:
Getting the message out via social media to tell your friends, network and any media will help in a huge way!
3. Getting the event shirt:
By purchasing one of the custom event singlets when they’re available (design will be announced soon), the profits will go to this cause.
4. Help fundraise and be part of the cause:
If you’d like to help fundraise toward this massive $65k target, please email through to [email redacted] so we can discuss how you can be apart of it
An intro about us... Chris Evans and Antony Sedman are the 2 guys that make up the endurance duo known as ‘The Wounded Pelicans’. In 2016, we completed 40 endurance events last year to raise more than $20k for cancer research.
Here’s the story Channel 7 did on our 24hr run around a 400m track a couple days ago for Event 1 of The BIG 10… https://www.facebook.com/7NewsGoldCoast/videos/1202782403153779/
With their project this year, they're focusing on quality not quantity and taking on 10 extreme endurance events for various causes of youth - hence why it's called 'The BIG 10'.
Below are a few links we have been featured with BBC Radio London, Red Bull, and Channel 7 TV to show you our growing credibility:
