My name is Rachel and at the time of writing this post, I am 28 years old. I have leukemia at stage 3 and I am running out of options. I just really need your help.
I've had many struggles in my life, but I have always been the kind of person that embraces challenges and loves to show everyone that no matter what hardships life brings, there is always something to smile about. I never give up once I start something.
With that said, Cancer is kicking my ass! I want to keep living, but Cancer treatment is super expensive. I'm on Medicare, but they don't cover the kinds of treatment I need to live. They don't cover a lot of things I need to win this fight.
I had a small savings at one point. Sadly it's gone..... I am unable to work because Cancer isn't the only medical condition I have. I have been trying to beat this disease without asking for help since I got my diagnosis in 2016. I promised myself that I would not let Leukemia get the best of me. I won't lose hope or ever stop trying my best, but I canca do this alone.
Unfortunately I just have a lot of expensive medical problems. See the Problem with cancer is it targets everyone regardless of your background and unfortunately for me my background isn't wealth. I'm a foster kid, I don't come from money. It takes money to fight cancer.... Money that I don't have. I just want a chance to survive. I'm living check to check on Disability but unfortunately I don't get free healthcare in my state because I make 17 more dollars then the requirement for free health care allows. Cancer treatments are super expensive and I have several other medical problems that we are also treating simultaneously including ITP (a disorder where your immune system attacks your blood platelets), hypoglycemia, hypothyroid, glaucoma (yep, I'm legally blind), brittle bone disease, and spinal stenosis. I'm in chronic pain all the time and spend about 60% of my day either in bed or in my wheelchair.
So, why GoFundMe? I simply can't afford the expenses the cancer is costing. I can't afford the special Foods I have to eat, I can't afford the doctor's visits that all have co-pays. I can't afford a trip that I have to take to a specialist doctor in October in the capital of my state that is 4 hours away from my home. Unfortunately, when most people hear the word leukemia, they think of children but I'm here to tell you that adults get it too and there aren't a lot of Charities out there willing to help us.
I know it is a lot to ask, but if you can find it in your heart to help me, I promise to make sure I pay it forward and do the best job I possibly can and share my message of positivity with the world.....just like I always have.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
