Nursing School for Jessica

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jessica Colello. The picture I am holding is my grandma, Louise Bove. She became a nurse in her 50s, working for over 20 years serving patients in Stamford, CT. I am currently striving to follow in her footsteps and become a nurse.

For the past 2 years I have been working full time at the community mental health center in case management saving money and maintaining a 4.0/4.0 GPA in all of my prerequisite courses at the local community college.  I was recently accepted into a competitive accelerated program at Wichita State University, which spans 13 months and will allow me to take the NCLEX and become a registered nurse. Upon graduation from this program I will hold a BSN, Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.  The program begins May 23rd, and costs $34,088.

I am in a uniquely difficult situation because I already hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which means that I am ineligible for most forms of Federal financial aid(all Federal grants are for first Bachelor students only). I have been searching diligently for scholarships, but many stipulate that in order to apply for the scholarship, the applicant must be eligible for Federal grants, which I am not. Some have age limits, or stipulate I must be a high school student, which also bar me from application. I have been offered $24,000 in Federal loans and I continue to seek out scholarships and other ways to finance my education, but as of now I am about $10,000 short.

Because of the demanding school schedule which throughout the year includes 12 hour clinical days, schedules that require attendance 5-6 days a week from Monday through Saturday and a 1 hr commute each way from my location to the school, it will be very difficult for me to hold a job, even part time. Without a steady source of income I am struggling to find any private loans to help cover the money I need for tuition. I am reaching out to you to try to raise enough money to pay my fall tuition by September 15.

My goal in life is to give back to my community and help as many people as I can, and funding my education would be a great way to invest in the future health care of Americans for decades to come!!

Any amount of money donated would be much appreciated. If it's not possible for you financially you can still help me by sharing this page. Even that would mean a lot to me.
