My name is Misael Betancourt, I born and raised in the beautiful island of Cuba. I always knew that entering into medical school would be a major challenge. Ever since I was young, I have had the desire to become a doctor. Therefore, I always pushed myself to obtain this career while stadying in Cuba. I knew that being a physician is more than a career. It's a passion and love for serving others. For that reason, there are some qualifications that are needed: being a dedicated studious student, having empathy for others and being victorious with personal challenges.
Studying hard is one expectation that is necessary for a person aspiring to become a doctor. Great accomplishments never come easy, they require effort and sacrifice. To accomplish these things, we must put our heart into what we do. In my case, I study hard. For example I took until in one semester. I don't allow myself to spend time doing things that are not valuable. I think that every person has the ability to be successful; the difference between the successful and unsuccessful students is how much of their time they spend studying.
another characteristic that is very important is the passion To be with people. Around us many people are suffering with mental and physical illness. We need physicians that can treat all of humanity with love, care and empathy. These special skills should be essential in all doctors. In the Bible, there is a rule called the "golden rule" that states that we should treat other people in the same we would like to be treated. I always try to put myself in another person's place, so I can feel what they feel and relieve their pain to the best of my ability. This quality is very important as a physician, because each patient will need to have faith that their doctor is doing his or her best to assure a health and happy life for them.
Finally I want to say that I would like be a partaker with God in the process of helping those who are sick. Unfortunately, we are living in a world contaminated with desease, world that needs physicians committed to doing their best. My highest goal in becoming a doctor is to reflect the love of God to others. I would be more than happy if you contribute in any way to help me to accomplish my goal.
