Mic4yemen is starting a Gofundme for the people of yemen. We are an organiztion located in SF, CA.
Unbeknownst to many us, the country of Yemen and its citizens are living a nightmare…daily! Everyday indiscriminately bodies of mothers, fathers, grandparents and yes…even young children line the streets lifelessly, victims to the tragic onslaught of Yemen’s civil unrest.
Your first question this far might be, why?
The tragedy initially began with the failure of transition in political power that was originally intended to enhance both civilian and political stability to Yemen following the uprising that pushed its longtime authoritarian president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to hand over power to Hadi, his deputy, in November 2011.
Can you imagine being forced to lose your brother or sister to war that’s being fought in your own country? That the ‘enemy’ could literally be your neighbor? How difficult it must be for the people of Yemen to live in fear every day unaware if their parents will make it home safe or not as they leave for work in the morning, or to watch your child exit the house to go to school or work and think ‘Will this be the last time I get to hug my beloved?’ Why do the people of Yemen have to live with such thoughts on a day to day basis?
More than 6,800 people have been killed and 35,000 injured since March 2015, the majority in air strikes by a Saudi-led multinational coalition that backs the president. The kids of Yemen have grown so accustomed and desensitized to the airstrikes that they now play a game, 1-2-3 Airstrike. To us, it sounds like a mobile app game, but to those kids in Yemen it could be a matter of life or death. Again, I ask. Why do the people of Yemen have to live such lives, don’t they deserve some sort of break so that they can live in just a small amount of peace?
With the above information, we would like to offer you a chance to make a difference in the lives of even just one person from Yemen. We created this GoFundMe account because we want to make a difference in the lives of our fellow human beings, we want to exemplify how to be compassionate people. But we cannot do it alone and we need the help of many people to help grow and spread our compassion. Any donation is appreciated and nothing is too small or big when it comes from the heart.
Your monetary donation will be used to provide relief to grieving and under-privileged families that are coping with loss or hunger.
The money will all be donated to monarelief.org a Yemen Organization for Humanitarian Relief and Development.
They will distrbuing food, blankets and hygiene kits.
