WW I Memorial Restoration
Donation protected
The memorial was dedicated by VFW Pacific Post 968 November 11, 1940. In recent years the monument has fallen into disrepair.
When dedicated there was a three rifle stack on top. The base and rifle stocks were damaged by years of exposure.
VFW Pacific Post 968 has started the restoration with a new finish on the base. Rather than put rifles with wood stocks back on top we are placing a Bronze 3 rifle stack.
This is an expensive undertaking but the City of Raymond is supportive and so is the community.
We a planning to have the new bronze top and have it rededicaten November 11, 2017, just 77 years after the original dedication.
On October 13th we relocated the base to its new location next to another memorial.
