Mai Duong is a talented and humble student - I am her VCE Coordinator. She has worked exceptionally hard inside and outside of school to achieve an ATAR of 98.7, whilst working all weekend waitressing in a pho restaurant to earn money to assist her family in affording an Australian education for her. As an international student from Vietnam she lives away from the usual familial support of parents and siblings and her family have pooled resources to give her the opportunity of an Australian education.
She has achieved outstanding success depite doing without basics that most Australian students take for granted. She does not even have internet access at home!
International students pay more than domestic students in Australia and HECS is not available to them. She needs these funds urgently so that she can make important decisions about whether she can afford fees, textbooks and travel costs to attend university.
Australia wants and needs bright young people like Mai who intends to become an Australian citizen and contribute positively to the society that has supported her.

Fantastic news for Mai as she recieves some corporate support. However, there will still be a shortfall with fees. Shortly she will have to pay part of her first semester upfront out of her own pocket - at least $7,500. Place on top of that text books and transportation costs and our fund will make life a lot easier for Mai who fully intended to spend her whole holiday break working and worrying.
Please support her!
