Black Girls Sew™ was started in 2014 by Hekima Hapa of Harriets by Hekima formerly Harriet's Alter Ego.  Black Girls Sew is newly forming Arts Organization with non-profit aims.  We offer sewing, design and entrepreneur  education to both adults and youth. Please visit www.blackgirlssew.org for additional programming.

The Sew Green Mini Fashion Camp™ is a 2-week summer camp for children ages 8 to 16 with an interest in fashion and sewing but little to no exposure to the industry. The aim of the sewing camp is to encourage youth  to participate in fashion from the vantage point of the entrepreneur and to see skills such as sewing and jewelry making as opportunities to develop a small business and earn income from their unique and original creations.

Sew Green Fashion Camp 2016 will be the 3rd year the camp has been offered to New York City youth.  The camp has previously been held at the historic Stuyvesant Mansion in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn during the month of August.  Plans are underway for this years fashion boot camp to service both return students and introduce additional young people to Fashion.  The Fashion Camp is a two week long sewing intensive and introduction to Fashion Business workshop. Students will receive 16 hours of hands on sewing instruction with a focus on sustainability and recycling coupled with exposure to the fashion industry at large. Topics will include: *Social Media , Fashion & Entrepreneurs * Developing Personal Style on a Budget *What is Mercedes Benz Fashion Week? *Trend Forecasting, How to spot them and How they effect your personal style. * Developing crafts/wearable art into business.

As well as a successful crowd funding campaign and volunteer staffing.
