In Memory of Tomas Mendez

We have suffered a terrible loss within our Katy's family our young cook, our Chef's son was killed today while driving home from work. Tomas was known for his incredible humor, compassion and love for everyone. He was adventerous and had plans to try surfing with a friend and fellow coworker this summer. Tomas took life by the horns and didn't let anything bring him down. We all looked to Tomas for words of encouragement and motivation when times were difficult or we felt down. Tomas was a loving and devoted father to his two beautiful daughters, he cherished them and spoke of being a father, the love children bring to your heart and how he wanted to be the best father to them, provide for them and be ther to comfort them as they grow. Tomas has been ripped from his daughter's life, his mother and father's lives, his family and friend's lives. We never got that last smile or joke from Tomas, the encouraging and comforting hug he was always willing to offer. No, someone took that from all of us and left his family reeling with this devastating loss. 
      We are asking those of you with kindness in your hearts to donate any amount to help with the costs of the funeral expenses. Tomas leaves behind his 2 year old daughter, his young step daughter and his long time girlfriend.  Tomas was just 20 when he was taken so abrubtly from his loving family and from our tight knit restaurant family. Any dontations exceeding the funeral expenses will be given to his young daughter who was robbed of a loving father just one day before Father's Day.  We thank you for your dontation, consideration and love while we all cope with this terrible loss.  We will remember Tomas for his joyful smile, his wonderful sense of humor, and his kind, loving heart.
