Heather Maltby Medical Fundraiser
Donation protected
Heather Maltby is one of the most courageous and loving women I know. She is a dear friend who has always been there for me and many others anytime we needed a hug or just to laugh.
2016 did not start off well for Heather. In early January she found out her loving husband (Kenny) was diagnosed with an aggressive form cancer that degenerated very quickly and, unfortunately, she only had a few months to spend with her loving husband as he passed away on March 26th and the funeral was held on March 30th.
After a few days I was able to go see her on Wednesday April 6th. I was greeted by Heather at her door. A few minutes after arriving to visit with her and her daughter, we all sat down to chat. It didn’t take long before she began to mumble and speak incoherently. Since she had been speaking normally only a short time before, her daughter quickly made the connection and she called for help.
It did not take doctors very long to find the diagnosis. Heather had a stroke which left her completely paralyzed on the right side.
Heather has a long recovery ahead of her, she may never regain movement and may never be able to return to remunerated work. Unfortunately, as of April 1st Heather’s employer no longer carries long term disability in its group benefits and medical unemployment is limited to 15 weeks, her finances are quite limited at this point.
Since Heather is a very dear friend to me and many other people, we are asking for your help in providing some financial assistance for her. If you have been touched by Heather’s kindness in your own life or in this story, please kindly donate. It doesn’t have to be much, anything you can spare would be a great help.
