Portable Community Laser Cutter

Hello,
This is joey, co-founder of the The Convergent Media Collective. Our goal since starting the collective has been to help others through cutting edge technology and media campaigns.
We have worked with the city San Antonio, Bexar county, 10bitworks, Spare Parts, Cox Media, Palo Alto Community College, University of the Incarnate Word, the SA Food Bank, Institute of Texan Cultures, TEDx SA and many other groups.
Throughout our journey we have been able to help many groups raise money to help others. We have documented key projects that have shown the brilliance of San Antonio's non-profit initiatives and we have in general worked to be a passive companion to organizations consulting with them on everything from facilities, to social media, to event planning.
So what do WE need MONEY for???
Well we were recently accepted to the Luminaria 2015 event, where we proposed a super top secret project, which has since been release:
Tortillas and Technology
Tortillas and Technology is the fusion of high tech geek culture and San Antonio culture into one installation. Here is a short promotional video we shot highlighting the process and results:
The essence of the project requires a few things:
-Tortillas
-A Camera
-A Computer
-A New Laser Cutter (Food Safe)
We have everything but the Laser Cutter. The current model we are looking at costs $5,500 dollars. We were fortunate to have Luminaria believe so much in our project that they would provide the $3,000 dollars to help with our project, so we just need $2,500.
Portable Laser Cutting Beyond Tortillas and Technology
After using the laser cutter at the event, our plan is to team up with 10bitworks, a local Makerspace and do on site demonstrations at local maker events, k-12 schools and other STEAM events to bring awareness of the possibilities Laser Cutters bring to creative spaces.

So whether you can donate a $1 or $1,000 we appreciate the support. Help us help others!
Thanks,
