For Darcy
Donation protected
Last night the unimaginable happened.
In a car accident just before midnight on East Hill, Dartford, where our sister, Donna, sustained serious injuries, Donna’s beautiful daughter Darcy was also cruelly taken from us, far too soon, in the same collision.
Donna and Dal have lost their beautiful daughter.
Billy, Albie, Ty and Lulu lost their precious sister.
Ben lost the love of his life.
And the wider Bruce and Lawrence families have had to come to terms with the loss of their niece, cousin, granddaughter and friend.
If the comments on social media are anything to go by, Dartford has also lost one of its most precious souls.
The road ahead is uncertain.
Donna’s hospital stay could be lengthy due to the severity of her fractures, meaning she and Dal will need deal with the tragic loss of Darcy alongside looking after baby Lulu and their other children - all the while handling huge financial pressure to cover lost work, childcare and travel expenses to London and back each day.
More certain is the fact a day no parent ever hopes to face will not be too far away. I’m sure you know the average funeral costs in excess of £5000. It’s an expense we never ever considered.
With this in mind we have started this this page as a way to show our love and support to Donna, Dal and the kids, and the wider family, in a practical way.
The money raised* from your generosity and compassion will help ease the burden of unexpected expenses, and help see the family through the uncharted days of grief that lie ahead.
On on behalf of the immediate family, grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins, any support will be gratefully received. If you can’t afford to give, please don’t feel pressured. Your prayers and encouraging messages have meant the world.
Thank you you so much.
This feels like an unending bad dream.
(*donations may appear on statements as Go Fund Me Darcy or Just Such a Time book on bank statements. When I set my Go Fund Me account up initially, two years ago, it was for a different project. I can verify your payment is For Darcy if needed. I have since amended the campaign name. It was an oversight in a time of grief.)
