YCHS Spring Band Tour

The goal of the Ypsilanti Community Band Association this year is to offer the Ypsilanti Community High School Wind Symphony students on an educational and exciting opportunity.  The project we are hoping to fund is Wind Symphony  Disney Tour, March 2018.   The total cost of sending   30 musicians and 6 chaperones is $44,200.  The cost breaks out to $1,150.00 per person.   We want to take the students who participate in the YCHS Wind Symphony Band to Walt Disney World for a 4-day tour.  Most exciting for our students however will be a performance opportunity in the park at the Disney Spring Marketplace and a Disney performing arts workshop sponsored and taught by the performers at Disney!   This is a result of an audition tape sent in that allowed the group to be selected to perform.  We are hoping to fund this project at least partially with on-line fundraising.  Our organization has been working on raising money through initiatives like our annual holiday greens sales, cheesecake sales, t-shirt sales, grant writing and we participate as a charity in the state sanctioned Charity Poker Tournaments 4 times a year.   Historically when the district was bigger our success with fundraising was much greater.   We are finding that as our district shrinks and the average income of our families shrinks so does our ability to raise funds within our community.  We believe this experience is  an opportunity our band students deserve to have regardless of individual or community wealth.   Be assured this group will do the Ypsilanti Community proud.
