Kidsake Nigeria

Imagine your child has a 104 temperature and rising.  You rush your child to the hospital with your heart racing and your thoughts scattered as you fight desperately to save your child’s life.

In the U.S. we have that chance to save a life because healthcare laws here in the U.S. give each person emergency medical care regardless of income . Our laws put the life of every child before the hospital's need to collect funds.

Unfortunately, this is not the case in Nigeria. There are many children who die in the arms of their loving parents due to not being able to pay their medical bills. There are no laws preventing this refusal of care. Inadequate governmental infrastructure means that many poor Nigerians do not have access to medical care they desperately need. Proper medical care is a meaningless word for the poor.

Anthonia is a registered nurse in Katy, Texas. She is a mother of seven children.  As the eldest of 10 children, Anthonia has been the cornerstone of both her large families. Now she endeavors to bring her heart, strong work ethic, and integrity to the people in the village where she grew up.

Anthonia developed a love for healthcare when she was a small child in the community of Mbaise, Nigeria. Through her experiences, Toni learned the importance helping those around her and giving back. Because of this she went to nursing school in 1975 and graduated and began working in several hospitals in Imo State, Nigeria.  In 1982 with her first child in her loving arms she and her husband immigrated to the United States where she continued her nursing career until today.

In 2010 Anthonia dreamed for something more than just a successful career. She felt a calling from God to give back to the community which had given her so much and was in dire need of her expertise. Hence, Kidsake Nigeria was born.

She has personally witnessed the horrific standards of medical care in her hometown of Ahaizu Mbaise, Imo State, where many families are turned away for the inability to pay.

Anthonia feels called to help fix this problem by opening a clinic for women and children in Ahiazu, Mbaise in Imo State, Nigeria where no one will be refused care simply because they cannot pay.

The goal is to offer the women and children of Ahiazu, Mbaise basic prenatal care, general health screening; including blood pressure and vital assessment, nutrition counseling, over the counter medications and multivitamins.

For the rest of the community, we would like to provide glucose screenings, lifestyle and health coaching; all in an effort to prevent future hospitalizations.  As well as work alongside parents and caregivers providing essential information to aid in child rearing.

By donating you are helping us to imagine a world where no parent has to bury their child because of inaccessibility to affordable healthcare.  Please join us, in this noble cause where we believe that everyone should live in a world where proper medical care is synonymous with the human condition, not the ability to pay.
