There are things I believe in; like the power of friendship and community and good food in a comfortable place. I fell into an amazing opportunity in South Bend and I think the perfect opportunity for a diner where good friends meet, everyone knows your favorite breakfast order AND your name.
For many years, at 808 East Colfax, there was a wonderful place called Cedar House which was just that.... Second home to many and the daily gathering spot for friends over coffee. We intend to bring back that great atmosphere, and friendly service, right in the middle of all that great 70's throwback style.
There will be changes, for sure.... Updated menu, with real comfort food and homemade favorites, but the bones of that great place will be there to remind you...... The vintage counter and stools, the express lunch line.
Those changes will take investment money that we didn't expect to need. The chance of a lifetime came out of the blue, when we weren't really looking for it so now we're asking for your help. Every dollar will be spent on renovations, equipment, and supplies to get up running.
For every dollar raised, the New Yellow Cat Cafe and it's sister, Lincolnway Cafe will provide matching dollar amounts in donations, community service hours and/or free meeting space for community groups over the next 24 months. You can follow our progress in monthly updates on our Facebook page @yellowcatcafe808. Lincolnway Cafe already supports Hello Gorgeous, Mishawaka Education Foundation, Mishawaka Food Pantry, Wrestling for a Cure, Mishawaka School through Saver Cards, Potawatomi Zoo and a local Head Start classroom and numerous other local groups.
Donations in any amount all add up to great things happening in the neighborhood, so please join us on the journey!
