Hello Everyone,
I'm Jim Henson and I'm a writer, director, producer and musician from the Los Angeles area.
Wait ... Jim Henson... didn't he create the... No, I'm not him. I was born with the same name. I even went to school with another Jim Henson. Small world, right?
While Mr. Henson gave voice to such legendary characters such as Kermit the Frog and Rolf the Dog, I give a voice to the voiceless.
Too many people in the world feel that they don't have a voice and that they really don't matter... that they and their lives has no meaning and value. Maybe they were told early on in life that they don't matter, or that they would never amount to anything, and they accepted it as fact. Maybe they were abused, neglected, rejected, bullied, or just plain forgotten.
When it comes to things such as bullying, school violence, teen suicide, elder abuse, or any one of a thousand different things, someone decided that either they didn't matter or the people in their lives don't matter. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The media would like you to believe that the only people who matter are those in front of the camera. After all, scintillating stories about the rich and famous increase ratings and generate money. They would rather you be concerned about what Actress X is wearing at an awards ceremony than think about the real challenges we face.
No matter who we are... regardless of age, race, color, creed, religion, sexual preference, political affiliation... we all deserve a happy, fulfilling life. Everyone is deserving of love.
We need to give the voice to the voiceless... the forgotten... tell the stories of those who have finally decided that they matter and can be a force for change in the lives of others ... to send out a powerful message to the world that EVERYONE MATTERS.
If everyone understand that that they matter, I guarantee you that school shootings will cease, that children will stand up to their bullies and not harm themselves, that the elderly will know that they are cared for... that those in authority will avoid pushing political agendas that don't promote a win/win scenario.
This is urgent, folks. How many more lives do we have to lose before we say enough is enough?
Jim Henson's mission was to entertain the world with the Muppets. The Other Jim Henson -- that's me -- wants to move, touch, and inspire the world by making sure that everyone knows that they matter.
We cannot wait any longer. We need to be urgent in spreading the word that everyone matters. That's why I am forming a production company called YOU MATTER FILMS.
I am currently in pre-production on a short film called Knockout -- the story about a group of guys who decide that people don't matter -- with devastating results. I need to complete this film by December 1st.
I am also in pre-production on Requiem for a Hero, the story about an Olympic hopeful who is ready to give up on life and doesn't know which way to go. This needs to be completed by January 31st.
I am also looking to move to Seattle, Washington, which is much more friendly to business and film.
Did you know that California, which is supposed to be the Entertainment capital of the world, ranks dead last when it comes to being friendly to business? It's also one of the most expensive places in the country to live. A huge community is waiting for me to arrive there. Unfortunately I live from paycheck to paycheck so I need some extra help.
I have a slate of four films scheduled for next year, both short films and features, all with the same message. That everyone matters. All films will be entered into film festivals with the intent of being distributed throughout the world. A portion of the proceeds will go to the issues that are covered in the film.
My Needs:
$2000 to finish Knockout
$2000 to finish Requiem for a Hero
$3500 to start the production company in Seattle, WA.
I'm offering perks... also I'm open to whatever you can do to help... I'm not married to what help looks like.
