GREAT NEWS!!! THIS YEAR WE QUALIFIED BOTH TEAMS FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Now we need your help.
We are the OKC Wheels of Thunder wheelchair basketball team. This year we have qualified both our prep and varsity teams for the national championships. Our prep team consists of youth 5-13 years old and our varsity team is seniors in high school and below. Wheelchair basketball is every bit as competitive as able body basketball. However, we must travel to compete since there are not as many competitors locally. Throughout the season we travel all over the country playing in tournaments and now we have qualified for the national championships in Louisville, KY which is April 12-15th. Our organization, Oklahoma Adaptive Sports Association(OKASA), helps raise money for travel, lodging and equipment. However, due to the local economy, we have not been able to raise enough funds through local fundraising and we do not have enough in the budget to send these athletes to the national championships. The money raised from this campaign will go to help the OKASA provide families with hotel, registration and more. We hate to see all the hard work these kids put in go to waste. So please help us get them there.
Team accomplishments:
-Prep finished last season 3rd in the nation.
-San Marcos Tournament - Prep 1st Place
-SW Regional Championships Edmond, OK - Prep 1st Place, Varsity 4th Place
-Nebraska Tournament - Prep 1st Place, Varsity 4th Place
-SW Conference Championships San Antonio, TX - Prep 1st Place, Varsity 4th Place
More about OKASA:
