Superhero Saturday
On May 12, 2018 our organization is hosting a mental health event at Morton high school in Hammond called Superhero Saturday. This free to the public event will offer yoga for children and adults led by Darnell McDonald, mental skills coordinator for the Chicago Cubs, a CRAWPUPPIES concert and Q&A, comic drawing session with Julio Guerra, author of Deathbag comic series, and a spoken word poetry session by poet laureate Janine Harrison. Purdue Northwest’s counseling department will be on hand to promote their new $5 walk-in center. There will be shirts for sale as well as vendors offering products such as essential oils, and comic books for sale from Creative Comics in Griffith.
We are a social emotional learning organization that teaches students tools to deal with anger, anxiety, depression, and stress. Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of our students and helps to propel our organization forward. We believe that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that a calm, focused mind and body and creative skills are fundamental to future success. We would love your contribution to help Lake County residents in need of mental health get some valuable tools.
