Robert E. Lake Elementary Garden
Donation protected
On Tuesday June 30th, two of the beds in our brand new school garden were destroyed when a car ran through our school fence and ran over our beds. The beds destroyed held watermelon, pumpkin and radishes. Our school raised 6500 dollars for the project by doing a Pennies for Plants drive. Now we will have to raise even more money to fix the ruined beds and help our students. We had great plans for our garden including a chef who will come and teach the children how to make food out of the crops. We also have a farmer that comes biweekly to educate the students on raising crops. We were just going to apply for a vendors license so that our students could sell their produce and learn the benefits of economics. Here is a link to our story on the local news. If you could help in any way it would be rewarded in the smiles on our children's faces when they can finally put that watermelon in their mouth. =)
