Zack Updyke graced us on this great earth for 23 wonderful years. He was a big hearted guy that could light up a room. He is honored and remembered by many family and friends as the Holidays draw near. We want to stand by in comfort, love, and support of Zack's loved ones as a community during this diffficult time.
Zack is preceded in death by his older brother Douglas Updyke II, and he leaves behind his daughter Mia who is 1.5 years old, father Douglas "Bear" Updyke I, sister Melissa, with nephews Talan and Les, sister Rebecca, Mother Bonita Pollock, AuntsNova, Tracy and Michelle. Grandma June Chambers, Uncle Daryll, and cousins Xavier and Javanna.
Zack's unexpected passing has put a finacial burden on the family to prepare a memorial service.
Zack's father Doug "Bear" Updyke is a well known local philantropist in the Windber / Johnstown, PA area. He is always putting other's needs in front of his own. For years he has organized community involvement at the local food pantry to help provide thanksgiving dinners for those in need. For 2016 his efforts provided 8 complete Thanksgiving dinners for families in need in addition to the $1500 donation that was made to the food pantry that was collected.
Just this past Tuesday, December 13th Bear and crew provided a full Christmas dinner and christmas gifts for two different families that would have otherwise had nothing for Christmas.
After years upon years of Bear and his family helping others, Let us open our hearts and compassions to help out a family who is always going out of their way to help others.
