DV and a Diamond Pendant
Donation protected
**Update** The individual who bought this gag-inducing piece was convicted and found gulity. Is currently on a 2 year suspended sentence and (I would imagine) paying off fines the magistrate had set out (to larger DV resources); witnesses' (wasted) time and legal fees that would give me nightmares. So whilst it was a complete emotional and physical drain on my mind and body - my life is finally getting back on track, But someone elses' isn't. Seriously, let's sell this thing. Below is the orginal post:
This silver 0.05 Carat Diamond Weight Round Brilliant Everlight Key Pendant with chain was given as a gift and worn once. It is is perfect condition as exculsive only to Michael Hill. It's a one-of-a-kind, comes with receipt and Certificate of Authenticity. RRP:$ 249.
Yada, yada, yada. This necklace is sh*t. Don't get me wrong, the description up the top is right (although I suspect I may have worn it more than once) and I'm sure someone would love a suspended diamond to beat with their own heart beat (or some crap) but apparently not 'cause no-one wants to buy it! So I've come up with a better idea: I'm going to (essentially) give it away. First you're going to have to listen to my sob story, throw a pity party and then pop your hand in your bag and shuffle through to find your credit card and donate.
Most Australians know that Domestic Violence perpetrated by men (and women) is becomming a major epidemic. You don't have to be a victim, but my guess is that you know someone who is, and the sad reality is that they're not talking. Until recently, I was silent also. Until I realised the resources we have for DV victims; it potentially saved my life. Cue melodramatic gasp! These people KNOW THEIR STUFF. They also know how to help, but like any good thing, they need more funding. They need more resources; shelters; voulenteers; counsellours; support workers - MONEY.
The person who gave me this pendant (vom) can't currently be named or shamed due to pending charges and legal reasons, but this 'symbol' of this persons 'love' may contribute to helping another person not ever having to experience such, er, 'love'.
So, all BS aside. I propose this: You donate anything you want (5 cents or 5K - whatevs). Then I'm going to download some crapola number generator and whoevers number by donations it generates, gets the pendant! You could potentially have this 'lucky charm' to melt down and turn into a cat-shaped diamond figurine for a measly 50 cents!
Seriously, while it's all fun and games now, what you could potentially be doing is saving a life.
Currently, I'm looking at smaller organisations, but am open to suggestions, but hoping to give it to smaller resources that are affliated with the DV areas (and their amazing work) within the courts. I've set the mark at 5K, but anything is better than nothing, and if word spreads - perhaps even more.
I'll do a video and post photos (once I'm legally allowed*) until then, I think it's time to pay it forward.
*Legal legs to stand on :)
