Zebulon Los Angeles AV Purchase

Donation protected
PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO OUR CAMPAIGN TODAY!   Zebulon LA is soon to open its doors at 2478 Fletcher Drive in LOS ANGELES!!!!  A beacon of light in these crazy times--music, theater, dance, art and film from around the world.  Construction is finished.  Permits in hand.  It has been such a challenge to get to this point.  Now we are just waiting to plug in to the grid, crank up the espresso machine, and lift the piano onto the stage.  But we still need the final funds to install the excellent sound system that we have designed for the space.  WE NEED YOUR HELP FRIENDS!!!!  This is an opportunity to support peace, beauty, freedom of thought, freedom of action.  Please help us install this sound system.  We want to be the best we can be, for the community, for LA, for California, for the world, for anyone who will be watching, listening, performing, experiencing, co-existing in this independent space we have been creating for all of us.

The original Zebulon opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2003. It was a performance space, cafe and bar. Hosting a wide variety of musical acts from around the world and across the street; it served as  a cultural hub and nerve center for local artists, musicians, and the surrounding community. After a decade long run, and with a changing neighborhood Guillaume Blestel along with Jef and Joce Soubiran decided to shutter the doors, marking the end of an era in Brooklyn. Shortly after Jef Soubiran moved his family to Los Angeles and with the help of LA native Mia Doi Todd and her husband Jesse Peterson, a space was found and a lease signed.
The team undertook an extensive renovation of the 1930’s bakery building on Fletcher Drive located just next to the Los Angeles River in the Elysian Valley neighborhood, also known as Frogtown.  The landlord, Mario Espinoza, will continue to operate his Latin American music distribution company and record label, Altamirano Records, in the western side of the building.  Both businesses share a great love and respect for music!  This new incarnation of Zebulon will continue in the spirit of its predecessor in Brooklyn, but in a larger space and with an expanded vision. Excitement has been growing in our new Los Angeles home.
In order to fully realize the potential available in a larger space, the decision was made to create two separate rooms - a small café and a state-of-the-art performance space.  A top quality sound system by L-Acoustics has been designed for the room, to ensure the best possible platform for all kinds of performance, be it live music, theater, film screenings, dance performance, after school programs or various workshops. This campaign will finance the purchase of this system along with stage lighting, video projection equipment, and all other audio aspects of the venue.
Zebulon has a history of openness to a broad range of artistic expression and we hope to continue this tradition on a much grander scale. We’re reaching out to the Zebulon community and beyond and are asking that you support an independent, community-based undertaking.  Your donations will make it possible for us to provide a wide variety of meaningful programming in an inclusive atmosphere.  The names of all contributors will find a permanent, physical home on the walls of Zebulon as well. Please join us in creating this much-needed venue, one which will bring people together through sharing in music, dance, theater and film for many years to come.  A unique home away from home for all of us. Thank You.-ZEBULON LA
