Zephera's Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
Our family has suffered a tragic and unexpected loss of a loved one recently. My sister Zephera has passed away at the age of 43. She had been struggling with what was most likely a case of early onset dementia the past seven months, although further testing was needed to confirm that diagnosis. We didn't get that chance. We have all speculated as to what had triggered the changes that had come over her and we just don't know how to make sense of it but we can agree she had a dis-ease in the mind. The effects of the disease led her to behave in ways that she felt helped her to cope with what was happening, primarily, writing down her observations and walking. During the last few months of her life she felt a strong need to be outside and on the move. This urge led her on many short walks as well as some rather long journeys, most of which she embarked upon without notice.
It was very stressful for everyone to watch Zephera behave this way and there was really nothing anyone could do to prevent her from leaving her home. She was purposeful in what she was doing and she never seemed lost or confused. One such journey took her all the way to Oregon where our mother lived and where our sister Jayne still lives. Somehow, by walking and hitchhiking, she made her way there. From a town called Sisters in Oregon she first contacted her husband Russell via borrowed cell phone. After that she was on the move again. Her journey continued and it's a long story but through the efforts of her husband and her sister Jayne she was "captured" and brought safely home.
A few weeks after returning from Oregon Zephera left the house again, this time never to return. On July 21 a group of boyscouts walking alongside the Jordan River just south of 4500 South spotted her in the water. No one knows why she drowned, but we were told by detectives that foul play has been ruled out and there were no signs of trauma on her body. We have a lot of questions at this time and we may always have questions. Autopsy and toxicology reports are still being processed. All we know is that we are shocked by what has happened and we miss her terribly.
The family would appreciate any help you can give to help cover the expenses for the funeral and a trip for the family to take Zephera's remains to the Oregon coast and scatter them in the Ocean in the place where we spread our mother's ashes only four years ago.
Thank you,
Crilll (Chris) Cracraft
