Having been given the devastating news that Poppy-Mai at 16 months old had been diagnosed with a Progressive Malignant Rhabdoid Tumour that had spread around her body and into the brain, it sent shock waves through our lives. Our world was turned upside down in a matter of weeks, initially Poppy-Mai's cancer was suspected to be a Wilms Tumour, after a biopsy it was revealed to be a Rare Rhabdoid Tumour. Apparently it is more likely to be struck by Lightening 3 times than be struck down by this cancer.
On the 3rd May 2016 our princess fell asleep in her Daddy's arms, she was starring at him, her eyes open for the 1st time in 2 days. Poppy-Mai's heart was beating through her chest as she fought for breath, you could see it clearly as she was now just skin and bone. We told her not to be afraid and that we will follow where ever she goes. Her Mummy was stoking her head. Her breaths drew to a stop and we kept kissing her lips and talking to her. We had Angel music playing softly, it was tranquil and calm.
life will never be the same. I've lost my soul mate, my one true love. Sammi's heart is in pieces.
We have a dream, to build a sanctuary for terminal children to stay and make memories with their families. It won't cost a penny to stay in our cabins.
Poppy's Field is becoming a reality with our charity 'The Poppy-Mai Foundation.
