Zimbabwe Clothes Delivery
Donation protected
Every year, we watch big name fundraisers such as Comic Relief and Band Aid draw in tens of thousands of funds for impoverished nations across the world. Despite the work they do, there are still other more on-the-ground aid work that can be done. This is why I want to start spending my time wisely to stop this poverty and inequality one step at a time.
This clothes drum is the first part of a larger project to try to educate people of Zimbabwe. You might ask, why Zimbabwe? Well, this all began when my lecturer at Coventry City University opened up to me and a few others in my class about her life back home. She brought the group to tears when discussing the reality of her past. While discussing the issues she faced back home, she didn't have any sadness in her tone; she was happy and proud of the way she was raised. She managed to escape her poverty in Zimbabwe and is now living a successful life in the UK with her 1 year old son.
I am not going into much detail about the poverty in countries such as Zimbabwe, because I am sure we see these adverts on TV and we are familiar with it. But I am trying to do something different, it's no secret that through EDUCATION, people can drive their own development, all they need is the opportunity and the tools. These people who live in poverty, and even the wealthy people in Africa are all unaware that they have the ability to be more, they have the ability to make their country great. My professor opened my eyes to the types of development still left, and she told me her plan to start this educating process, but as discussed before we need to do it one step at a time.
We will be sending a drum full of second hand clothes to the people of Zimbabwe, this is to prepare them for the colder months ahead. The clothes drum will be sent in January 2017, students at Coventry City University have donated items of clothing they no longer need. It costs £300 to deliver the drum, and this is where we kindly as you if you can please donate to help raise £250 of this. If raise more than it means we can send more than one drum to benefit another city.
I would like the emphasise that by providing these people with clothes will not stop poverty, what will is the education. Every penny will help this plan to succeed and I appreciate your time in reading this. This clothes drop off will be the first step in establishing a connection in Zimbabwe with whom my professor will be able to develop a general curriculum.
