Help Save The Gainesville Rock Gym

The Gainesville Rock Gym is an indoor climbing facility in Gainesville, Florida. We have been open and building one of the greatest climbing communities for 16 years. We offer top-roping, bouldering, lead-climbing, and various youth programs.
In mid-December of 2015 we started a project to repair one of our climbing walls. In doing so, we uncovered extensive concrete slab damage throughout the entire facility (See images below). The cracks were covered by layers of padding and carpet so we never knew what kind of damage was underneath. GSE, a local structural and soil engineering firm came to assess the damage. After testing numerous core samples they determined:
"Per our discussion with you based upon our findings from the concrete cores and hand augers performed at the site, GSE believes there is a safety hazard in regards to the concrete floor slab at the Gainesville Rock Gym. Voids were observed beneath the concrete slab throughout the building. We will prepare stabilization recommendations and forward them to you as soon as possible. These recommendations will consist of either underpinning the entire slab or chemically grouting the entire slab. Again, GSE believes there is a safety concern in regards to the conditions encountered and will exist until repairs are made or the slab is stabilized."

The findings have forced us to close our doors until repairs are made. Unfortunately, we still have bills to pay and this is not possible to do without revenue coming in.
All donated funds would help us avoid shutting down permanently. Our funding needs include, but are not limited to: legal fees, loan payments, vendor payments, insurance payments, payroll, and utility payments.
The need for the funds is immediate. Our reserve cash will not last long enough to get through the repair process. GSE has estimated that we could be shut down for two months or more.
Keeping the business alive is certainly critical to the owners and employees of the Gainesville Rock Gym. However, the greater cause is to keep the climbing facility for the local community. The Gainesville Rock Gym has had an extremely positive impact in the Gainesville area. Our youth programs, memberships, and day passes have helped build character and confidence while instilling a healthy and fun lifestyle.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Preserving the Gainesville Rock Gym will keep this great climbing community intact and allow for future growth of our amazing sport. We plan on having a 'Grand Re-Opening" party for any local donors. If you have any questions or want to read up on what we do then visit our website at www.gainesvillerock.com. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we hope to continue impacting lives in a positive way.
Sincerely,
The Gainesville Rock Gym
