John, Cindy, and Magpie's New Life

John, Cindy, and Maggie Panian are starting over, and we need your help.
Our story begins almost 10 years ago when we decided to have a child - our dear little Maggie ("Magpie"). We discovered daycare would cost more than Cindy was making as head pastry chef at a local catering company, so we went a bit crazy - we started our own business, Crabcakes Creative Catering.
We were happily catering along for about 8 years when the other half of the building we were leasing became available. We decided to expand, and open a restaurant. (We still catered as well.) We spent many months, and our life savings, rehabbing the space. Corvid's Cafe was born. It seemed too perfect to be true. We live above our kitchen in the same building, so we were here 24/7. We've worked insanely long hours - sometimes not even going to bed at all in order to get the catered events out the door, and run the cafe - and we've loved every minute of it. Ok, maybe the sleep deprivation wasn't loved, but meeting all of you and sharing our passion for friends, family, cooking, and art certainly was! We treasure the friendships we have gained through this place.
Fast forward two more years until now. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we must close our beloved businesses, seek employment, liquidate almost everything we own, and find a new home in a very very short amount of time. The amazing company that manages the building for our landlady has found us a beautiful apartment right across the street from a park, so we do have a new home to move to - no worries there. It will be wonderful. However, the cafe drained us dry. We have no funds left to start over. Even worse, we are closing the businesses with quite the hefty tax debt owed to Uncle Sam, and a handful of other small debts that coincide with running a small business.
The businesses were really just one company. Crabcakes was the parent company to Corvid's. Since the business was all under Cindy's name (long story), this debt will follow us, and make it almost impossible to move on. We really really need your help.
This is very hard for us. We've never been in this situation before. Asking for help is difficult. We are in a bind. We've lost everything. Please help us start over by donating whatever you can. The debt we are closing with is rather large - truly it's larger than the goal we have set, but anything will help knock it down, and will be so appreciated.
