Update on Zoe Ireland Drake, daughter of Jenny and Gavin Drake:   Zoe is quite the fighter, and is doing well.  She will continue to need medical care over the next few months.  Thankfully, Jenny and Gavin's son, Aiden, was able to go to Ireland to spend the holidays with the family.  They are all so thankful and feel so blessed that they are able to be together, and that Zoe is doing so well, but they are ready to be back home in Tennessee as a family.

Jenny and Gavin have been looking into a medical flight to get Zoe back home.  Unfortunately,  the insurance company is not going to cover this, because Zoe is getting adequate care in Ireland.  Zoe is currently unable to make the 9.5 hour flight without medical attention.  This flight will cost $67,000.  Because they are self-employed, staying in Ireland creates quite a financial difficulty for them.  Zoe really needs to be about 3 months post-term to be able to sustain a commercial flight, so without this medical flight, they will most likely be in Ireland until April.  Please consider donating more, and please post this on your social media pages to get the word out.  Thank you so much, and God Bless!

Here is the latest article written about the Drake family:

Hi friends and colleagues.   Jenny Drake, a UAB School of Optometry alum (2008), and her husband Gavin were on a work-related trip to Europe, and heading home, when she unexpectedly went into premature labor at 25 weeks.  Thankfully, the plane turned around, and she was able to have her precious baby girl, Zoe, at a hospital in Ireland.  Now, Jenny and Gavin are in Dublin with their sweet 2 pound daughter until they are able to come home to the Nashville, TN area.

Jenny and Gavin have a 3 year old son, Aiden, who is staying with his grandparents in Kentucky.  They also have an optometry practice, Drake Eye Care and Eyewear, in Murfreesboro, TN.

Below is a FaceBook post from Jenny:

"For those that don't know, we had an eventful Saturday. We were flying home from Paris and I went into pre term labor at 25 weeks. They diverted the plane to Dublin, Ireland and 4 minutes after arriving at the hospital, our precious Zoe was born. She weighed 2 pounds and has proven to be a feisty little thing. She came off the ventilator today and is breathing well on her own. Please keep her and our family in your prayers as we have a long road ahead. We don't have wifi at the hospital but I'll try to keep everyone updated as much as possible."

Needless to say, Jenny, Gavin and Zoe will be in Ireland for quite some time.  Their stay could potentially be months.  During this period, they will be unable to work at their practice and will accrue many medical bills.  Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated, and such a blessing to their sweet family.  Any amount is helpful.  Thank you so much!
