Our names are Desiree and Cherelle, and we are raising money on behalf of our friend Latonia. She currently studies at Canterbury Christ Church and is in her 1st year and studies Health studies.
Latonia came to the UK when she was 6 years old from Jamaica, to live with her mum. In order to live a better life and get a better education. When Latonia was 7 years old her dad died due to having a stroke which left her mum as a single parent. Sadly, Latonia's mum died a few years later from meningitis. As a result of this, Latonia was left with no parents and no family to support her.She was then put into foster care and left under the care of the government.
The reason we made this gofundme page is because Latonia has been in the country for 15 years and her visa is going to end in a month’s time, the local authorities who was responsible for taking care of her has informed her that they will not be helping her to renew her visa and Latonia has no other source of support.
Latonia is urgently in need of renewing her visa, as she is not a British Citizen. She has less than a month, to raise the money or she will face being deported back to her home country where she will be homeless as she has no family members there.
Latonia has never known any of her other family members besides her parents. If she is subjected to going back to her home country she will be left to survive on her own, and Jamaica does not offer any type of government support.
Latonia applied for student loan in august 2016 expecting to receive her loan in the commencing school term, with countless failed attempts to receive the loan she found out in January of 2017 that she was not eligible for the loan.
Latonia is currently in debt of 15k as her accommodation is requesting that she pays 6.2k and 9k for her tuition fee, but we are asking you to help donate as much money as possible so we can help her to pay off some of the debt.
Please give as little or as much as you can and help raise some funds for her. God bless✨
