Last steps in an intersex lawsuit

Donation protected
My name is Maya Posch. Four years ago a doctor refused me as patient because of my intersex condition, a condition due to which I have both female and male genitals, as well as many other (confusing) symptoms of both sexes.

For the past eleven years I have now tried to find medical answers about how my body is put together and works, yet was met with both hostility and attempts to make me believe I was something other than intersex. This a very frustrating and traumatising experience.

Four years ago, shortly after getting refused as a patient by one doctor, another saw fit to first trigger me in such a way that it caused a black-out - during which I apparently vandalised part of the room - before they called the police on me. Please watch the attached video for details.

In brief, the Dutch state has been waging a lengthy legal battle against me ever since that event, during which all charges but that of vandalism were dropped. On that count, however, they decided to not officially assign punishment due to the circumstances which had led to the situation.

They did however force me to pay the full price of some artwork that got damaged during the event, and which was foolishly left uninsured by the artist despite being placed in a public place. The total cost of this, including interest over four years, is nearly four-thousand Euro.

Even though I could dig into the savings I have build up during the two years since I have left the Netherlands, it would feel terrible to have to give up so much of what I own for no good reason.

Please see the blog post I wrote before the ruling from the judge: http://mayaposch.blogspot.de/2015/10/dutch-justice-when-punishing-is-not.html

And my response after receiving the bad news from my lawyer: http://mayaposch.blogspot.de/2015/11/how-not-being-punished-gets-one-into.html

Back in the Netherlands I was always alone in my struggles against the medical system. When the event happened I was alone. During the court cases I was alone. Just for once I would like to not stand alone in what is essentially part of this intersex quest.

On the positive side, after I pay this amount, I will be finally free of the Netherlands and a more than ten-year long legacy, the long version I have extensively documented on my blog and in the media so far.

If I can raise this money via this crowdfunding effort it'll help me feel a lot less alone in this world. Sure, I will still be punished by the Dutch state for something I did not willingly do, but the financial and with it the psychological burden of this fact will not just be carried by yours truly, but every single one of those who donate. For that I would be more grateful than mere words could express.

Please don't hesitate to look at the content on my personal website and finally, I just wanted to say 'thank you' for reading all of this :)
