Justin's Road To Recovery

https://gofundme.com/3tazcjpw My son Justin Whittington suffered a spinal cord injury T10 burst as the result of being a passenger which involved drinking and driving in November 2008. He was 17 and a very active young man.
After stabilizing his spine with rods and pins he began his new journey on two wheels. Justin has had many setbacks since his accident. Hospitalized many times with kidney problems and multiple surgeries for his spastic bladder.During these years he has learned and accepted his disability. He has managed to stay positive , faithful to God and always has a smile on his face.
His ongoing pain started about a year ago. Thinking it was a pinched nerve we went to see his Dr. By this time he was having numbness and temperature sensitivites in his right shoulder and hand. After getting an MRI , we got a diagnosis we were'nt expecting. The neurosurgeon explained he had a cyst on his spinal cord and unless he has surgery it will continue moving up towards the brain stem. The further up it goes the better chance of being paralyzed in his upper region is very possible.
He underwent a 6 hr. surgery on December 29th. He spent 3 days in ICU and the remaining 7 days in Brackenridge Hospital. He is in a lot of pain and has to have assistance with his daily routine right now.
The bus didn't go all the way to his new job so he would roll in his chair 6 miles to get to and from work in pain. He is determined to fulfill his goals which is to become certified to help newly injured spinal cord injury patients with their workout and therapy regiment.
The only thing Justin has wished for is a vehicle so he can get to a job, school, Dr, appts, grocery store , therapy, and in case of an emergency. He said how can I ever go on a date mom when I don't have a way to pick her up? It would require hand controls to drive with , which we can get funded through the Dars program.
He has researched prices and can get a reliable accessible vehicle for 7,000. The remaining amount left he will purchase a used standing frame in which will allow him to lock in his legs and waist and go from a sitting to standing position which is medically needed to continue to have weight bearing on his legs to maintain good circulation , muscle tone, and to prevent muscle atrophy.
Justin already has a positive mindset, a plan of action and some awesome results at the end of the road.
Will you please consider helping him successfully reach his goal by donating any amount you wish to give. You can help make something wonderful and inspiring come from such a tragedy.
As Justin's family we all thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read his story . God is good to us each and every day.
