We are students at the University of North Texas, committed to strengthening our campus mental health community. Partnered with Active Minds, we aim to foster a supportive environment where students connect, support one another, and advocate for mental wellness.

Mental health concerns are growing across Texas, with nearly 60% of children with depression untreated and suicide as the second-leading cause of death for ages 15-24. At UNT, only 8% of students use the counseling center—well below the national average. Our campaign seeks to bridge this gap, ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and supported.

Through Active Minds, our UNT chapter promotes resilience and empowerment by expanding mental health resources, peer support training, and educational workshops. Together, we’re building a future where students can confidently face their challenges, backed by a compassionate community.

My name is Caroline Freese and I am the co-chair for Saint Joseph's University's Out of the Darkness Walk for the 2024-2025 year.

In 2015, a member of the Saint Joseph's University community lost their life to suicide. Since then, the community has come together every year in November to honor their life and the lives of others who battle with mental health issues.

I would love it if you would join me and the SJU Dean's Leadership community in raising awareness about suicide prevention. All of the money raised will benefit and be donated to Active Minds, Inc., and any donation will help create an impact.

Hi my name is Cassandra and I’m fundraising in Trevor Viera’s honor to help with mental health awareness and suicide prevention. On June 23, 2022, my boyfriend, and brightest soul, Trevor Viera passed away. Anyone who knew Trevor knew he was an amazing, caring, funny, loving individual who would be there for anyone. He was the type of person who put everyone else’s needs and wants before his. Even though mental health is finally starting to be talked about more, we can all do more to help everyone. Do you want to help make a difference and spread awareness to help break the stigma of mental health issues? Please join us in a walk in honor of Trevor Viera .
