Our Urgent Mission: To Save Citrus and Her Leg
Meet Citrus, a brave feline whose life took an unexpected turn when her leg was shattered in a tragic car accident. The pain she endured was unimaginable, and she needed immediate, extensive medical care to survive.
We couldn't stand by and watch Citrus suffer. With a deep commitment to helping cats in need, we rushed to her aid, swiftly rescuing her from the shelter and taking her to a veterinary clinic.
Citrus required hospitalization for several days before the vet team could even perform surgery because her tissue was so inflamed. Then, she had surgery where a plate and screws were used to repair her leg. Citrus’ leg was wrapped tightly with a cast that needed changing weekly, and we kept her comfortable with heavy pain medication as she healed.
After two months, the only trace of the trauma she’d been through was a mildly outturned paw that caused her no trouble and after several months Citrus was adopted into a loving home.

Dewey's Journey: From Despair to Delight
Meet Dewey, a tiny warrior who faced unimaginable challenges on the streets. Alone, abandoned, and suffering, he was found with an eye infection so severe that it had caused his eye to rupture, leaving him in excruciating pain. Dewey's condition was dire; he was also battling a host of other health issues, including fleas, an upper respiratory infection, and severe emaciation.
Dewey's plight was a cry for help, and shelter staff urgently reached out for emergency rescue. The moment we learned about his condition, we knew we had to act swiftly to give him the chance at life and the critical care he so desperately needed.
Dewey's path to recovery was a long and challenging one. His eye had been so badly damaged that it had to be surgically removed. Additionally, after rescuing him, we discovered that both of his front paws were infected, causing his claws to fall out.
But with your support, we were able to provide Dewey with the comprehensive care he needed. He underwent treatments for all of his infections, and his damaged eye was removed to relieve his pain. Over time, Dewey transformed from a frail, suffering kitten into a picture of health. He regained a healthy weight, his claws grew back, and his soft, fluffy fur became a symbol of his resilience.

Flower Pot Kittens
In a quiet backyard, a feral mama cat hid her four-week-old kittens in a large planter pot, her instinct to keep them safe driving her every move. But the tranquility of the backyard was disrupted by the presence of large dogs, causing immense stress and posing a threat to her precious kittens. The homeowners, compassionate and concerned, reached out to Alley Cat Rescue for assistance.
We swiftly answered the call for help. The rescue team went into action, rescuing the tiny kittens from the potentially dangerous situation. Simultaneously, they managed to trap the protective mama cat, with the intention of ensuring the kittens could continue to receive her nurturing care.
The story took a somber turn when one of the four kittens, smaller and more fragile than the others, struggled to thrive. Despite the dedicated efforts of the mother cat and her caretakers, this brave little soul passed away, leaving a void in their hearts.
Noticing that the surviving kittens were not thriving as expected, we intervened. With bottle feeding and round-the-clock monitoring, we embarked on a journey to nurture and care for them. The mama cat, still feral and stressed by the unusual circumstances, was spayed and returned to her backyard home, where she felt most comfortable.

Yet, it's a testament to the unwavering commitment of our team, the resilience of the mama cat, and the spirit of these kittens. However, her path to recovery was a long and arduous one. She required daily monitoring and pain medication, which meant an extended hospital stay of over six weeks. This period was marked by round-the-clock care and unwavering commitment to her well-being.
